Life on the farm or ranch doesn’t slow down.

Between early mornings, long days, unpredictable weather, and financial pressure, there’s always something demanding farmer’s attention. But farmers and ranchers, are no strangers to hard work—it’s part of who they are.

But when the weight of pushing through becomes too much, where can they reach for help?

One in four Alberta farmers feel like life isn’t worth living, yet 40 per cent feel uneasy asking for help due to the stigma. It’s not always easy to talk about mental health, but that doesn’t mean the challenges don’t exist.

How we’re supporting farmers and ranchers

Getting support shouldn’t mean leaving the farm, waiting months, or worrying about cost.

Counselling Alberta offers farm-informed counselling designed to fit your needs.

That means:

  • Phone, online, and in-person appointments

  • Flexible session times that fit your schedule

  • No waitlist or referral needed

  • No financial barriers. We never turn anyone away

  • No limit to the number of sessions you receive

  • Support from a professional who understands the demands of agriculture

Whether they’re in the field, the shop, or on their tractors, support is accessible—when and where they need it.

What makes our approach effective: Feedback Informed Treatment

Counselling Alberta uses Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT), a research-based approach that helps ensure every client receives tailored support that works. This method is why we consistently achieve the best client results. Here’s how it works:

  • Before each session, clients complete a brief questionnaire

  • Their counsellor reviews the results before each session

  • Sessions are tailored based on progress, concerns, and needs
